Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Canadian Muslim kills teenage daughter for defying sharia

From Canuckistan:

A Mississauga, Ont. man will be formally charged on Tuesday with murder in connection with the death of his 16-year-old daughter.

The girl, Aqsa Parvez, was in critical condition on Monday after being strangled, apparently after a dispute with her family over her refusal to wear the hijab, the Islamic headscarf worn by some Muslim women.

However Peel Regional Police said Tuesday the girl died late Monday night.

Police arrested the victim’s 57-year-old father, Muhammad Parvez on Monday morning after receiving a 911 call from a Mississauga home from a man saying he had killed his daughter. He is due to appear on Tuesday in a Brampton, Ont. court.

The victim’s 26-year-old brother, Waqas Parvez, was also charged with obstructing police.

Friends of the teenager, a Grade 11 student at Applewood Heights high school, said Monday they were shocked by the attack on the outgoing, likeable girl, but said she had been threatened by her strictly religious family before.

Ebonie Mitchell, 16, a friend of the victim, said the conflict with her father over wearing Islamic dress came to a head at the beginning of this school year. “She just wanted to dress like we do,” she said. “Last year, she wore like the Islamic stuff and everything, the hijab, and this year she’s all western. She just wanted to look like everyone else.”

But if we just respect their culture (including the homicidal aspects of it), then they’d like us more and would wish us no harm, right?

  1. Being in Canada he isnt even eligible to recieve the same sentence he gave his daughter. I wonder why she didnt do what alot of teenage girls do, just wear what her parents want her to out of the house and change later? It seems it would be very east to just put a scarf into her purse or backpack.

  2. Well, since the only to fully “respect” their culture in their eyes is by converting completely, then yes, you’re right, if we respect it, they’ll no longer wish us harm. Unless we convert to the wrong branch/sect. Then we’re just as farcked.

Shari’a takes place in Canada, as a Pakistani cab driver strangled his daughter to death. She died at the hospital (via LGF). Here is more about this (via Michelle Malkin):

  4. Leftists have no right to attack Christians for being “intolerant”!
I don’t like secular humanist influence in our culture but you don’t see me shooting women for dressing like prostitutes or terrorizing gay bars.

Leftists want to respect the very Muslim intolerance they find detestable in Christians supposedly.
    What a bunch of hypocrites!

  6. Sharia law does not condone this killing. To call it Sharia is wrong. The father in this was mentally deranged. It was a tragic circumstance but had nothing to do with the man’s religion. The closest explanation is honor killings which happen by Hindus, Christians, & Muslims. Murders in Canada are still far fewer per capita than America. Canada is a much safer country.

  7. Sharia law does not condone this killing.

Uh, yeah it does. It’s a violent way of life.

The closest explanation is honor killings which happen by Hindus, Christians, & Muslims.

Honor killings do NOT happen by Christians, dumb#ss. Anyone who kills in the name of “honor” isn’t a Christian.

    Geez, you Canucks are idiots.

  9. I’m a liberal, and a Canadian, and I don’t think fathers should murder their daughters.

What does this have to do with liberalism? This has to do with a parent being homicidally freaked out by his daughter’s sexuality. This has to do with a guy using religion as an excuse for his prejudices.

    Sounds like conservativism to me.

Of course it does. You’re an ignorant liberal Canuck.

  11. I agree with you that a good Christian will not honor kill, and neither will a good Muslim.

I am Muslim, and I completely agree with you that something like this cannot be condoned.

I think you are forgetting that there are Muslims who do not follow the laws of their religion, just as there are Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. who do not follow the laws of their respective religions. This would be an example of that. Other examples would be terrorists, who might think what they are doing will get them into heaven, but will rather get them into hell according to The Qur’an.

It is unfortunate, then, that the Muslims who do good things are never looked at and listened to among Americans.

I disagree with the “you are forgetting” part, but I agree with the rest of that statement.

It is certainly unfortunate, h.i.a. I think the reason is this: There are more barbaric acts commited in the name of Islam than any other religion, and it seems that the peaceful Muslims out there do not condemn these barbaric acts loudly or frequently enough. This failure to not only condemn terrorism, but to assist in rooting out terrorists, gives us Americans the impression that Muslims must, by and large, condone terrorism…or they’re too afraid to combat terrorism. Either way, that’s unacceptable.

I think you would find that Americans are very receptive to peaceful Muslims, if only we could see more of them who are vocal in our shared outrage. If you condemn these savages and say they are perverting your religion, then you are a friend to Americans (including me).
