Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Obama “slashes” budget, which results in…$1.6 trillion deficit

My head hurts.  Excerpt:

The $3.8 trillion budget blueprint President Obama plans to submit to Congress on Monday calls for billions of dollars in new spending to combat persistently high unemployment and bolster a battered middle class. But it also would slash funding for hundreds of programs and raise taxes on banks and the wealthy to help rein in soaring budget deficits.

To put people back to work, Obama proposes to spend about $100 billion immediately on a jobs bill that would include tax cuts for small businesses, social-safety-net programs, and aid to state and local governments. To reduce deficits, he would impose new fees on some of the nation’s largest banks and permit a range of tax cuts to expire for families earning more than $250,000 a year, in addition to freezing non-security spending for three years.

Despite those efforts, the White House expects the annual gap between spending and revenue to approach a record $1.6 trillion this year as the government continues to dig out from the worst recession in more than a generation, according to budget documents released Sunday by the White House. The red ink would recede to $1.3 trillion in 2011 but remain persistently high for years to come under Obama’s policies.

Look at the comPost: O’s “slashing” his way to ballooning deficits.  Nope…no liberal media bias!

So President Deficit Tackler’s idea of “spending freezes” and “deficit reduction” plans will result in a bigger budget deficit than this country’s ever experienced?

OK, I see how that works:  I will “slash” 20 lbs. off my frame by adding 5 Big Macs a day to my caloric intake.  That oughta work the same way as B.O.’s deficit strategy.  My approach will flat-out taste better, too, no?

  1. I think they use the “new math.”

I’ve noticed that I have a great deal of difficulty understanding things that members of the Obama administration say whenever they start using numbers. I just figured that with their high class Havard degrees that it was beyond my ability to comprehend.

Jobs saved and or created, insure more people and save money while lowering the deficit. Their math is just so beyond… its like quantum math. Money can exist in two places at the same time. I think it is something like that.

They are going to spend their way out of the recession. It is magic. It is Hope and Change.

I’m going to look into having them manage my finances. I’ll be able to spend 100% of my income, invest the other 100% for my retirement, and donate the other 100% to charity and write it off on my taxes.

  2. As a small business owner, ObaMao wants to raise my personal tax rate and my cap gains tax, then give my company a credit when I hire a new employee? My company doesn’t need the credit, thank you for nothing. I need my personal taxes not to go up. When my personal taxes go up, my business will pay the penalty since that’s the source of my income. The commies never understand how money is created. DOH!

Thanks for all your work on this blog!

  3. 100 Billion for Job Creation. Government does not create jobs. Investment of wealth does. Innovation does. Competitive markets do. Government can only ensure it won’t get in the way of commerce, innovation and investment while protecting the rights of its citizens. Obama does not get it. Maybe would get it if he ever was in the private sector having to make something or provide a service himself. Maybe he would understand if he had to make a payroll and pay other costs of doing business. Rather he has living in the Public or nonprofit sector.

  4. As I look through this blog, all I see is the complete direction of blame and frankly utter disrespect towards President Barack Obama. He is our president and deserves respect, without the usage of hideously juvenile name calling . There is no doubt that all Americans love this country and want what is best, so does Obama. Although I personally do not align myself with all of Obama’s policies, I am pro-choice and I see those REAL issues to be paramount. Anyways yes, the economic crisis NOW is a large problem which Obama MUST deal with. However, no matter what he does or how he does it there is a huge conservative backlash, just for the sake of lashing back. Empty accusations are heard everywhere from the media, giving the public little to no way to decide for themselves who they want to support and they turn to anger and hatred based on completely nonfactual, biased information. Yes, Barack Obama does need to deal with this problem, and now. However, can anyone come up with a better way to help pull this country out of a recession without spending money? Nope. No matter who would have gotten elected, there would have been mass amounts of federal spending to fix the financial irresponsibility of the Bush administration. Who did set this country up for failure, along with the previous Regan and Clinton Administrations. However the tax cuts, lax financial sanctions, and the Iraq War put this country into a humungous amount of debt, in which Barack Obama had to face when he BECAME president. Again, direct blame where it could be justly due; not just because of whoever is the biggest target.

  5. Steve, where do you think that 100 Billion is going? Towards the creation of new innovations by funding the creation of new technologies and science. You think that America needs a real “competitive market”, a free-capitalist society and an economy without government control then you are wrong. You need an example of a functioning fully capitalistic society? Then look over at Haiti, appealing, no?

  6. Thanks, Radical, for your kind words and your contribution to our economic engine. I fear the damage that the left inflicts on our economy will be difficult to withstand.

  7. If Haiti is pure capitalism, then Ted Kennedy was both sober and monogamous.

Socialism has a perfect track record: 100% failure. The science is settled.

  8. Crush my thoughts exactly. Haiti is an example of an oligarchy where a few powerful manipulate the government to keep themselves in economic and political power. Democratic and Capitalist it has never been. That’s exactly the problem in Haiti. The natural industry and talents of its people have never been allowed to flourish.

For about 150 years of American history our economy and people was the envy of the world. There was proper and reasonable use of natural resources to create wealth. That wealth was invested into innovations that were economically reasonable because the point of that investment is to make a profit for the investor. Lastly, the government stayed out of the way of the private sector and allowed the smartest, the most innovative and the strongest to survive in the economic jungle. History shows this way creates long lasting, economically stable and world leading innovative jobs.

More government involvement, as proposed by our President, in innovation favors waste, the non innovative and the weakest in the economic jungle. Government does not care for profit, it cares about votes. It cares about retaining power for those in government. That my friend is Haiti. Government created jobs are temporary. Once the tax cuts and government incentives are gone, so are the jobs.

By the way, this is no disrespect to Obama, or the Presidency. This is my constructional right, and my obligation to speak up when I believe my national leaders are leading My government down the wrong path. I’ve been visiting this blog since its beginnings, and Never have I seen anything like the disrespect I have seen for Bush and other Republicans on the Maga Blogs like KOZ, or Huffington Post. Just because the Left does it on their blogs, does not make it right of Conservatives to do likewise. However to compare Crush Liberalism’s sarcastic name calling to KOZ’s or Huffington’s is like comparing a Beebe gun to a nuclear missile.

  9. One last thing. The difference between Conservatives and Liberals is simple. Liberals believe the government is the solution to national problems, and if they only add more government there will be fewer problems and ease suffering. Conservatives believe the natural industry and innovation of the American people, the ability to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and rise above, those same attributes our founding fathers recognized were blessed by our creator, are the solutions to our national problems.

Liberals believe more government will lead to equality. Conservatives believe more government leads to tyranny.

  10. @JoeStayle

“He is our president and deserves respect.”

Respect is earned, and not by insulting those that elected you as Obama and he administration does on a regular basis.

“I am pro-choice and I see those REAL issues to be paramount.”

As do I. I am Pro-Life and I oppose Obama’s support for the culture of death.

“there is a huge conservative backlash, just for the sake of lashing back.”

No. The backlash is against his wreck-less progressive socialist policies that have historically proven to end in failure.

“Empty accusations are heard everywhere from the media…”

The MSM has been mostly silent regarding the bungling administration Obama has appointed. Only recently has the MSM begun to notice.

However, can anyone come up with a better way to help pull this country out of a recession without spending money?

Tax cuts. Stop spending trillions of dollars in non-existent zip codes and spending millions of dollars to post this fallacious information on the web at the tax payers expense. Oh, and tax cuts.

“…financial irresponsibility of the Bush administration. Who did set this country up for failure, along with the previous Regan and Clinton Administrations.”

Time to stop the blame and earn your pay Barack.

“However the tax cuts, lax financial sanctions, and the Iraq War put this country into a humungous amount of debt, in which Barack Obama had to face when he BECAME president.”

Doubling Bush’s debt in half the time helps us how exactly?
    ——————————————————-
“The $4.5 trillion in debt Obama will accumulate in the first two years and eight months of his administration will nearly match the $4.9 trillion of George W. Bush’s eight years as president.”
    ——————————————————-

“Again, direct blame where it could be justly due; not just because of whoever is the biggest target.”

I’m sorry, who was it that was going to heal the planet? Obama talked a big game on the campaign trial. Obama was different. He is post-racial, post partisan, not an ideologue.

Obama got elected. Time to stop campaigning. Time to deliver. Instead what we get is amateur hour and excuses, from Obama, his administration and his supporters.

Blame is not governing. Obama wasn’t elected to blame, yet he begins every sentence with “… the last 8 years”

The left including Obama never let up for one second during the Bush administration. The left said plenty of ugly hateful things.

I am not. I am judging Obama based on his words and his actions.

I agree ATM but other than a few “Present” votes he has no experience at anything else. Except for his training in Marxism from his friends and associates!

    I disagree… he has HOPE and… and… CHANGE!

That has to count for something right?

    Oh wait… Hmmm…

Well it has only been a year… we have to wait for that on the job training to kick in. Give him time. I’m sure he’ll get up to speed sooner or later.

Don’t tell me you’ve lost “Hope”?

Anyway there isn’t anything so bad that he can do that several hundred trillion dollars and several decades of Conservative administrations can’t fix… maybe.

    See? I haven’t lost hope. 🙂
