Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Justice Ginsburg to Egypt: Our constitution sucks, so don’t models yours after ours

A typical liberal reaction to our Constitution…but shameful nonetheless.  Details:

Following are excerpts from an interview with US Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which aired on Al-Hayat TV on January 30, 2012.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg: It is a very inspiring time – that you have overthrown a dictator, and that you are striving to achieve a genuine democracy. So I think people in the United States are hoping that this transition will work, and that there will genuinely be a government of, by, and for the people.

I can’t speak about what the Egyptian experience should be, because I’m operating under a rather old constitution. The United States, in comparison to Egypt, is a very new nation, and yet we have the oldest written constitution still in force in the world(Just so you know, you statist hag, that is NOT a bad thing…it’s a GREAT thing! – CL)

You should certainly be aided by all the constitution-writing that has gone one since the end of World War II. I would not look to the US constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012. I might look at the constitution of South Africa. That was a deliberate attempt to have a fundamental instrument of government that embraced basic human rights, had an independent judiciary… It really is, I think, a great piece of work that was done. Much more recent than the US constitution – Canada has a Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It dates from 1982. You would almost certainly look at the European Convention on Human Rights. Yes, why not take advantage of what there is elsewhere in the world?

In other words, the very Constitution she has sworn to uphold is, in her own words, outdated.  No d@mned wonder this wench looks to foreign law to mold her leftist decisions: she doesn’t think very highly of our own laws, statutory or constitutional.  As the Spectator notes, while she was praising the freedoms found in our First Amendment, she was oblivious to the fact that those rights are far less protected in South Africa, Canada, and Europe than they are here.  Maybe she’s racist for not wanting those rights extended to Egyptians?

If Uhhhhhhbama gets re-elected, he will look to find another one of these anti-American jackwagons to sit on the SCOTUS in the event of another vacancy.  It is shameful that such a moron serves on the bench of the Supreme Court.

  1. That would be the very same Constitution that all the elected and appointed folks took when they took office. At all levels of our government. And most of them are ignoring or trampling on. Including the Ovomit in the oval office and his czars. The only folks which seem to be paying attention to the Constitution are the military and “We the People”. Interesting what the leftie hag on the SCOTUS thinks of the laws she is supposed to uphold. Sorta like Holder and his bunch.
Us veterans also remember the oath we took and live by it. And, will continue to do so.
    Liberalism is a mental disorder.

  2. One more reason why it is so important who we elect to office. Thanks again to Jimmeh Catah and William Jefferson Franklin Washington Clinton. The former for giving her the appointment to the United States Court of Appeal for the District of Columbia and latter for her current appointment. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

  4. Once again, open disdain for our Constitution and this from a Justice of the Supreme Court! And do not think for one moment that this President, most on the left and more than a few on the right do not agree with this! They are in fact marching lockstep with her in their open disdain for our founding principles. And it is “We the People” that pay the price for their and for that matter our own follies!

Now, its time for a Moron Alert! Our Constitution is the law of this land! It is not something to be ignored or trampled on as many feel. it is not there for a Supreme Court justice to openly dismiss! It is not there for a President to ignore and in effect say it does not apply to him as this bozo in office does every day! And it is certainly not a document that anyone in this country, in power or not has the right to dismiss as Justice Ginsburg does in her statements. It is the Law of the Land!

How dare her! Who in the hell does she think she is to ignore the document and the laws of this land, something she as well as every office holder in D.C (and don’t even get me started on the corrupt lost cause that runs the Justice Department or his boss for that matter) are sworn to uphold?! And where is the outcry from the co-opted media. Good God! How can so many people have their heads so far up you know where and ignore the obvious?

  9. Here’s a wacky idea–look at what she actually said? Nowhere in her interview did Ginsberg say that The US Constitution sucks, has failed, or isn’t worth defending. What she said is that it’s not the only possible model for a new nation, with vastly different realities from those the framers faced in the 1780s, to look to. Consider the just regional and economic compromises that led to the structure of the House and Senate–those institutions have worked fairly well for us, but they’re not the only way to run a government. Just as there have been corrupt, useless politicians under our presidential / legislative framework, there have also been outstanding examples of leadership and freedom under, say, parliamentary systems.

Further, the US Constitution has already influenced most modern constitutions which honor individual rights, clearly limited government powers, responsive political representation, and, as Ginsberg emphasized, an independent judiciary. For my money, I’d want to insist that any new constitution include an equivalent to the first amendment, which is just about the greatest feature of our Constitution. But even with that awesome law, there’s no shortage of different opinions about what it actually means in day-to-day governance.

  10. Dok, this is the same broad that said it was OK to turn to foreign law IN LIEU OF our Constitution, since our Constitution was “outdated”. Sorry, bro, you can’t polish that turd, but kudos for trying.

It is NOT a “living, breathing” document. It means what it says, and if we don’t like it, we change it through amendment, NOT through judicial creative interpretation based on foreign law.

BTW, I quoted her. And her own words are available all over Al Gore’s invention for people to make up their own minds. Clearly, your warped mind is already made up, and erroneously so.

  12. Ok…the question for Dok and all the other liberals…WHO THE HECK EVER SAID THE US CONSTITUTION IS A “LIVING BREATHING” DOCUMENT?!?!?!?!
It is a LEGAL document. Is a mortgage a living breathing document? NOPE.
What makes THIS document “living and breathing”? Nothing whatsoever….except that someone SAID it is.
does the Constitution SAY it is a “living breathing document”? Did one of the SIGNERS ever make that claim?
The only document I am aware of that makes such a claim (aside from opinion editorials) is The Bible:
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful….”, but does THAT equal “changing based on the times?
Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God [you know, that living and powerful thing?] stands FOREVER.”

So, again, WHO says the Constitution is “living and breathing”? Just a bunch of liberals who lack any REAL authority to declare truth, so they simply SAY STUFF.

  17. What’s shameful is that people actually believe we have a “working” constitution. The only ones it “works” for is the Govt/Politicians/Courts.
