Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Did Roberts’ ruling on ObamaCare actually HELP conservatism and help Romney?

Interesting analyses, from many different sources.  Excerpts here, and you really should check them out.

Essentially, conservative pundits are wondering that while the ObamaCare ruling was a short-term win for Chairman Zero, maybe Roberts’ rejection of the Commerce Clause being used to regulate economic inactivity (which lower courts ruled was valid) will prevent future Congresses from trying to use that clause to expand the power of the federal government and thus advance the cause of limited government.  Perhaps that cause, plus the outrage from the ruling which will galvanize the conservative base to rally around Romney (which they may not have otherwise done), will put Romney and Republicans in charge…or so the thinking goes.  And if Romney and Republicans take control, they will definitely repeal ObamaCare…which means that ObamaCare got repealed PLUS the Court will have prevented similar abuse of the Commerce Clause in future sessions.

Anywho, that’s the school of thought…or spin, depending on how you look at it.  What do YOU think?

  1. Hmm How could Obamacare help Romney the mormon. The creator of Obamacare.Explain. It’s no secret that President Obama based his plan on the model that Massachusetts implemented under Romney.

  2. The Republicans are now running on repeal and replace. I hope for the best and await for the worst. Republicans don’t do big government well. Bush 43 tried and his spending is used as an excuse for Obama’s spending deluge. I hope they don’t replace Obamacare with a half ass version of the same thing that will cost America more in the long run and give the Dems ammo and a blank check to fix it.

  3. What does Romney’s Mormonism have to do with anything?

  4. I was wondering the same thing, Steve.

  5. Not sure. But Boehner certainly didn’t help the Republicans with yesterday’s CBS interview. I’m pretty sure some of his staff were ready to shoot themselves. My thoughts (which won’t be popular here) are it is what it is. Taking Bill Frist’s idea of accepting it and building on it. Our premiums were already going up for whatever reason, so I won’t be able to blame it on Obamacare.

  6. It’s not just about premiums Alli. Besides the fact that it will destroy decent healthcare and create even more physician shortages and rationed care, Obamacare contains many other far reaching and unconstitutional provisions. The tax ramifications alone are staggering. Under Obamacare capital gains taxes will jump from the current rate of 15% to 23.8%. Other unearned income (income from interest, annuities, rents, etc.), will now be taxed at 43.3%. If you sell your home…guess what? — yep, there’s an Obamacare tax on your home sale (I believe it’s an additional 5%). Companies that develop life saving medications or medical devices will be taxed out of business. People who currently have insurance through their employers, will lose their insurance and be forced into the government run system. Ask anyone who currently has socialized medicine….it sucks. Need an MRI? — IF you are able to get one under Obamacare, you’ll wait MONTHS for an appointment. Have an illness where experimental drugs could save your life? Guess what…’re SOL.
Oh, and while you’re at it, you might want to research the people who are advising Obama on the healthcare plan and helped draft it. Specifically, Peter Singer and Ezekiel Emanual. They’re proponents of euthanizing the elderly and disabled. Higher premiums are the LEAST of our worries. Welcome to Nazi Germany my friends.

  8. Did you READ the article Alli? Despite the inference in the title, the article admits there ARE home sale taxes on some people. Even if there weren’t, the other ramifications of Obamacare are going to be CATASTROPHIC. But you just keep on putting your head in the sand, it obviously covers the stench of this administration!
