Big Sis now monitoring…Drudge?

Apparently, the threat of Chairman Zero not getting re-elected is a national security risk.  Details:

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s command center routinely monitors dozens of popular websites, including Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, WikiLeaks and news and gossip sites including the Huffington Post and Drudge Report, according to a government document.

A “privacy compliance review” issued by DHS last November says that since at least June 2010, its national operations center has been operating a “Social Networking/Media Capability” which involves regular monitoring of “publicly available online forums, blogs, public websites and message boards.”

The purpose of the monitoring, says the government document, is to “collect information used in providing situational awareness and establishing a common operating picture.”

The document adds, using more plain language, that such monitoring is designed to help DHS and its numerous agencies, which include the U.S. Secret Service and Federal Emergency Management Agency, to manage government responses to such events as the 2010 earthquake and aftermath in Haiti and security and border control related to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Oh, I see.  So they’re only checking out Drudge and other blogs so as to know about earthquakes and whatnot.  Because that kind of info isn’t on CNN or Fox News or anything, right?

November can’t get here quick enough to get these jackbooted thugs out of our house.

New DHS “informational” video portrays white middle class Americans as potential terror threats

Janet “Nappy” Napolitano is our guard dog.  God help us.  Excerpt:

A new promotional video released by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes white middle class Americans as the most likely terrorists, as Big Sis continues its relentless drive to cement the myth that mad bombers are hiding around every corner, when in reality Americans are just as likely to be killed by lightning strikes or peanut allergies.

Despite encouraging viewers not to pay attention to a person’s race in determining whether or not they may be a terrorist, almost all of the scenarios in the clip proceed to portray white people as the most likely terrorists. Bizarrely, nearly every single one of the “patriotic” Americans who reports on their fellow citizen is either black, Asian or Arab. Imagine if the video had portrayed every terrorist as an Arab and every patriotic snoop as white, there’d be an outcry and rightly so, but this strange reversal must have been deliberate on the part of the DHS, but why? Is this merely political correctness taken to the extreme or is something deeper at work?

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the DHS’ own internal documents list predominantly white conservative groups as the most likely terrorists, such as Ron Paul supporters, gun owners, gold bullion enthusiasts, and a myriad of other comparatively banal political interests that are largely the domain of white middle class Americans.

Video at link.

I can see why she’d be focused on rednecks from Possum Hump, TN.  I mean, they practically fit the terrorist profile to a tee:

Quote of the day, “Napolitano not very reassuring” edition

Ho. Ly. Shiite.  And this buffoon is charged with keeping our country safe from terrorist attacks?

“What I say to the American people is that… thousands of people are working 24/7, 364 days a year to keep the American people safe.”

Video clip at the link.  Mark Joyella has the same thoughts that I do:

Napolitano didn’t specify which day was the Homeland Security “off day,” which of course helps to keep our terrorist enemies off guard. After all, if they don’t know the magic day when all are defenses are down, how can they plan an attack? Is it New Year’s Eve? (Perhaps too obvious) Flag Day? Is it that National Cupcake Day? Can we agree to make it a day when I’m out of town?

Quips Allah:

In fact, now that I think of it, didn’t the Flight 253 plot go down last year on Christmas Day? Well, then, there’s your answer to why DHS missed so many red flags at the time: They had Christmas off.

I guess maybe DHS is just too friggin’ busy using the Coast Guard to combat global warming “climate change” to worry about terrorist attacks.

I keep telling myself: “Just two more years.  Just two more years…

DHS investigating people making Freedom of Information Act requests

Hopenchange, transparency…are you feeling it?  I’m feeling it!  Oh wait…that’s gas.  My bad.  Anywho

For at least a year, the Homeland Security Department detoured requests for federal records to senior political advisers for highly unusual scrutiny, probing for information about the requesters and delaying disclosures deemed too politically sensitive, according to nearly 1,000 pages of internal e-mails obtained by The Associated Press.

The department abandoned the practice after AP investigated. Inspectors from the department’s Office of Inspector General quietly conducted interviews last week to determine whether political advisers acted improperly.

The Freedom of Information Act, the main tool forcing the government to be more open, is designed to be insulated from political considerations. Anyone who seeks information through the law is supposed to get it unless disclosure would hurt national security, violate personal privacy or expose confidential decision-making in certain areas.

But in July 2009, Homeland Security introduced a directive requiring a wide range of information to be vetted by political appointees for “awareness purposes,” no matter who requested it.

Career employees were ordered to provide Secretary Janet Napolitano’s political staff with information about the people who asked for records — such as where they lived, whether they were private citizens or reporters — and about the organizations where they worked.

If a member of Congress sought such documents, employees were told to specify Democrat or Republican.

Observes Ed:

The FOIA law is not an excuse to conduct investigations into active citizens expecting and deserving transparency in government.  It is certainly not a dodge for political appointees to keep embarrassing data to themselves so as not to hurt their bosses.  Even worse, Napolitano apparently kept Congress from getting information it needs to conduct oversight and provide a check and balance to DHS power based on the political affiliation of those asking for the data.  That should be a firing offense, and it should include everyone in Napolitano’s star chamber as well as Napolitano herself.

DHS report on Islamic terrorism omits any reference to the “Islamic” part of it

If the bloodthirsty camelhumping jihadists don’t kill us, political correctness will.  Excerpt:

Two new documents laying out the Obama administration’s defense and homeland security strategy over the next four years describe the nation’s terrorist enemies in a number of ways but fail to mention the words Islam, Islamic or Islamist.

The 108-page Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, made public last week by the Department of Homeland Security, uses the term “terrorist” a total of 66 times, “al Qaeda” five times and “violent extremism” or “extremist” 14 times. It calls on the U.S. government to “actively engage communities across the United States” to “stop the spread of violent extremism.”

I guess if there’s any silver lining, it’s that the word “terrorism” is now used instead of “man-caused disaster”, so there’s that.

Nappy Napolitano is bound and determined to keep an eye on the Tea Partier type, while ignoring the type who attacked us on Sept. 11.  (Sidebar: For those of you on the left, feel free to Google “9/11/2001” if the date doesn’t ring a bell for you.  You’re welcome.)

Notes from Obama’s SOTU address

1.  Chris Matthews says he forgot B.O. was a black man “for and hour”.  Awaiting howls of racial condemnation from the left in 3…2…1…

2.  B.O. criticized the recent Supreme Court decision that allows businesses and organizations to exercise their First Amendment rights.  Justice Alito dissented, publicly.  Rep. Joe Wilson just called to tell Justice Alito that he could have been a little more vocal about it. 😆  Anywho, you would figure that a constitutional law professor like Uhhhh-bama would be a little more familiar with the Constitution and with Supreme Court precedents.

3.  Not content with the negative fallout from his unpopular socialized medicine plan, B.O. thought trying to implement another massively unpopular policy (allowing gays to serve openly in the military) would be just the thing to get America back on his side.

4.  Here’s our DHS Secretary, putting the “nap” in “Napolitano”.  Reid apparently forgot to take his 5-Hour Energy shot, too.

5.  Fact check: You know, Obama’s kinda full of bovine feces on a bunch of things he said last night, huh?

6.  Russ (via Ace) said that the big winner from the SOTU speech was…Jimmy Carter.  How?  Because now, Carter is no longer the official worst president we’ve seen in our lifetime.  B.O. now has that dubious distinction.  After all, can you ever recall a president that was a lame duck after just ONE year?

Night and Day, “DHS’s assessment of airline terror threat” edition

DHS top dawg Janet Napolitano thought the current airline security system that let through a camelhumping bloodthirsty Islamofascist hellbent on doing Allah’s will massacring flight passengers was working smoothly.

That is, Nappy thought it worked…before she didn’t.

Luckily, the State Department is getting involved…after they passed on two opportunities not to give this man a visa.

Don’t you feel safe with this woman and her bosses as night watchmen, America?
